Hello from Istanbul. As most of you know, we're spending the holiday in Turkey. Lauren is home in Chicago with Clark and Ann, who graciously agreed to fly-up to stay with the little princess.

We spent today in Istanbul. We had a nice time touring around, though we were a little hurried since our plans take us into the middle of the country. The weather was a little rainy, but that wasn't a big deal since we spent most of our time in-doors.

Haggia Sophia is an amazing site. It was built in 532 A.D. as a church at the height of the Byzantian Empire. It was constructed in just under six years, using 10,000 workers. The Christian church was later converted to a mosque following the conquest by Ottoman Turks in 1453, and has since been converted into a museum with many of the Christian elements uncovered.
