Photography : Photo Of The Week : #76 07.26.2003

This is a photo of the lights at Chicago's Wrigley Field, taken during a game back in June.

I think this photo has both artistic and technical merit.  From an artistic perspective, there's a certain amount of interest and creativity in the photo.  I wouldn't say it's great, since you really need to be told it's Wrigley before it starts to convey a lasting impression.  Nonetheless, I think the star effect and off-center composition create some interest.  From a technical perspective, this is handheld at 300mm zoom -- pretty tricky.  The lens' image stabilization played a big part..

This photo needed a little bit of work in Photoshop to correct some glare from the lens.  It has also been sharpened.
