This was taken in downtown Chicago a few weeks ago. I had to meet some
friends down at Navy Pier, and decided to go on a sojourn through downtown --
a.k.a. "The Loop" -- to get some shots. This alley had some great afternoon
shadows, but it was dark. So I changed to ISO 400 to get the shot.
To avoid loosing detail, I purposely under-exposed the photo -- intending to
revive it later in Photoshop. It worked like a champ.
In post-processing, I went to the opposite extreme, and over-exposed the
photo. This makes the pavement uninteresting, and unworthy of close
inspection. With this and the stenciled sign, the viewer's attention is
drawn upward, where the photo shows an interesting play of light on the wall.
